An early watch has been issued for the potential for severe weather during the first 3 days of October, severe gales and heavy rain are all a possibility. As the time of interest is still a while out, no exact details can be guaranteed, for now we have issued an early watch for the entire UK which encompasses likely changes of the severe weather risk to certain regions/counties. Please access your area on the interactive map below for more information.
It’s very common in Autumn to see tropical systems become caught up in the north Atlantic jet stream, and later this weekend; Sunday and Monday/Tuesday, there’s the potential for just that. The remnants of Hurricane Maria are signalled to pass over northern Britain, affecting northern areas more substantially we think; with southern and central areas perhaps escaping the worst of conditions. Strong winds could arrive as early as Sunday with gusts over 60mph in northern regions, lasting through Monday and Tuesday potentially with severe gales and heavy rain possible.
