Breaking: Met Office upgrade tonight’s UK thunderstorm warning to Amber

The Met Office have upgraded their thunderstorm warning from yellow (be aware), to amber, meaning “be prepared”. This comes as intense instability is currently developing some potent thunderstorms across the UK. Cells are currently developing across the Midlands, Wales & South East England. These are expected to become very severe this evening with as much as 100mm of rain possible. Large hail, gusty winds and lightning damage are also possible.

Our risk map, featured below, highlights a similar area for this development. The M4 corridor, and perhaps the West Midlands / Wales at risk from some severe & lively thunderstorms in the next few hours.
