Vehicles trapped as major flooding hits Horwich (Bolton)


A emergency services response is currently ongoing in the Horwich area of Bolton following an intense downpour this afternoon.

The incident occurred following approximately 2.5 inches of rain that fell within the space of an hour between 5 and 6pm this evening. The storm also brought hail and frequent thunder for a short period.

Severe flash flooding in Horwich area is causing numerous closures:

*A673 Chorley New Rd CLOSED from Ainsworth Ave to The Beehive Rbt

*A6027 DeHavilland Way CLOSED from Middlebrook Rbt to Beehive Rbt – heavily congested – AVOID!
