There is an increased chance of thunderstorms tomorrow (Sunday) for parts of the UK. Quite a significant level of instability is expected to develop across France early tomorrow, and spread up over the Channel during the evening. This may spark off a cluster of thunderstorm activity as it pushes north, and potentially a mesoscale convective system (MCS) as the large area of instability pushes north.

This is likely to develop some moderate thunderstorm activity from Sunday night into the early hours of Monday. Some intense downpours are possible as a result and may produce up to 25mm of rainfall, especially in the areas outlined below.

As a weak southerly flow is sustained into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, some further thunderstorm development is possible in parts of the UK. This may spark off some sporadic thunderstorm activity across particularly central and southern parts of the UK during this period. As this forecast period is still a little while off, it remains unclear as to how strong these developments will be. In the mean time, keep track of any LIVE developments using our live thunderstorm tracker below.
