Amber Warning for tomorrow's storm

AMBER WARNING: Storm “Ali” to Hit the UK with 90MPH winds Tomorrow

Severe gales are forecast to affect a large portion of the UK and Ireland tomorrow and as a result the met office has issued an AMBER (be prepared) weather warning.

The warning comes as deep Atlantic storm now named “Ali”, the first of the 2018 season, is expected to strengthen as the center passes north of the UK tomorrow. The severe weather will extend hundreds of miles out from the center so Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England can expect some very strong, severe wind gusts tomorrow. It will also be very windy for central and southern areas through Wednesday. 80-90mph gusts in the North but 40-55mph gusts could create some lighter issues in the south such as: transport disruption, downed trees etc.

⚠️UK Weather Warning Active

Winds will become nasty around Breakfast time in the north and remain strong through much of the day. There is a risk of poweroutages north of say Leeds which is where winds will be gusting well over 60mph. Heavy rain will be an issue during the morning in the north, with some minor flooding possible, however the main story will be the severe gales. Big gusts could create poweroutages, widespread downed trees and significant transport disruption through the day on Wednesday. Some of the high bridges in Scotland may need to be inevitably closed to traffic through tomorrow however.
