Whilst eastern Wales and England will hold onto fair weather and warmer than average weather, there is a significant risk of flooding in highland western Scotland tonight and into tomorrow with over 100m (4″) of rain in places. There is also a risk of more intense and widespread storm which is most likely to affect the western half of the UK on Friday, which is in fact the remnants of soon to be hurricane Leslie..
The week ahead, summarized.
The contrast in weather conditions is already in place with north west Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland seeing heavy showers tomorrow whilst elsewhere remains dry and pleasantly warm for the time of year. – However the warmth will be more widespread on Wednesday alone with 20°C possible in Scotland as well.
On Thursday and Friday the wet weather will sink a little further south east affecting England with rain before a return to dry and very warm (for the time of year) weather into the weekend. It’s worth mentioning that the west in general could see stormy weather on Friday with severe gale force wind gusts, but there is some uncertainty. In the short term, some localized flooding is likely in western Scotland in the next 48 hours with that more widespread risk of stormy weather (severe gale force winds), in the western half of the country on Thursday and Friday however
