Following today’s wild weather, another batch of very strong winds are expected during tomorrow, Tuesday 14th January. As a result, the Met Office have issued a yellow “be aware” weather warning for strong winds which covers virtually the whole of England and Wales, as well as a rain warning for parts of south east England. They state that “Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely”.

During the morning and early part of the day winds will be mostly light, however will begin to strengthen into the afternoon in the south west of England. Very strong winds will push into the rest of southern and central England during the afternoon, likely affecting the evening rush hour. Gusts could well reach 70mph on the south coast of England, however inland are likely to range from 50 to 60mph. Therefore, some transport disruption is possible, especially to high sided vehicles. Please take extra care when traveling.

Winds will eventually begin to calm down into the early hours of Wednesday. Heavy rainfall will also be an issue, especially across parts of south eastern England, during tomorrow. Up to 25mm is possible in some areas, meaning some surface water flooding is possible here later tomorrow.
