A supermoon will light up clear UK skies tonight

A supermoon is expected to light up the skies across the British Isles and Ireland overnight.

The supermoon will be rising in the East at roughly 7pm, being visible in urban areas in the UK from around 10pm onwards before setting in the east at approximately 6am on the morning of the 8th of April.

Normally in this country, poor weather and cloud prevents people from seeing astronomical phenomenon. Good weather tonight, in most areas, will allow the spectacle to be seen by many.

The “Supermoon” occurs when a full moon happens when the moon passes the point on it’s orbital path that it is closest to the Earth. In this scenario, light intensity and moon size are maximized.

Something to look forward to during a difficult time!
