According to public information officer, David Johnson, the blaze has burnt around 2,000 acres of land and 13,000 residents have so far been evacuated. High winds in the area have also grounded aircraft, and are assisting in the spread of the fire.
It is currently located on the west coast of Utah lake. All residents south of Grandview Blvd. or to the west side of Redwood road were asked to leave immediately earlier today. The below image shows the location of one major urban conurbation on the west side of Utah lake, which has been asked to evacuate.
