A major incident has now been declared in Greater Manchester as Covid-19 transmission rates continue to increase in this local area. The following chart from MEN (Manchester Evening News) shows a steady increase in the number of infections in the area in recent days.
The increase is particularly evident in the borough of Oldham, and Rochdale, both on the north eastern side of Manchester and both with a relatively high elderly population, which may be contributing to the local spike.
The Government had established that one of the reasons for the high transmission rates was contact between households in the home environment. This activity has been significantly discouraged in recent days in these areas.
Please stay tuned to your local authorities for more Covid-19 information in your area.
