A man died yesterday (Thursday) afternoon after getting into difficulty in large waves at Loe beach, Lizard Point in Cornwall.
A teenage boy also got into serious difficulty and was taken to hospital, but is not in a serious condition at this time. Although it is not known whether this boy is a son or friend of the man, little details have been given.
Many stretches of beach in the UK have no life guard, posing a real risk. And, with the weather still being warm, many may be tempted to swim in the dangerous conditions. Devon and Cornwall police have urged people to stay out of the sea whilst storm Ellen produces unseasonably strong winds.
