Several lanes of the i-10 were closed following a large fire from a chemical plant south of the motorway. Southerly winds dragged the smoke cloud several miles north towards the cities of Sulphur and Lake Charles. Residents here have also been told to shelter.
The current situation remains stable and the fire is largely in control, however recent severe weather is putting the plants under pressure.
