Good evening. Overnight an area of precipitation is likely to pass into Northern England & the North Midlands. Here, significant and potentially disruptive snowfall is likely on higher ground above 300 metres.
To lower elevations, lesser accumulations of 2-5cm are likely. Some minor travel disruption is possible in these areas to start Tuesday. In particular, the Peak District & Pennines, however there could also be some wet snow temporarily to lower parts of the North Midlands, West Yorkshire & Greater Manchester. In these more low elevation areas, the risk of snow is near 50% therefore this should not be taken as a definitive forecast.
This clears later on Tuesday however there’s a risk of some snow in the Midlands, locally giving 2-3cm. There is a further risk of heavy & disruptive snow in southern Britain on Wednesday, an update will be posted on this soon however a Met Office Warning is already in force for much of Southern England & South Wales.
