The Prime Minister is expected to imminently announce new tier 4 covid restrictions for London and the South East as well as many other counties, and he will give an update from downing street this afternoon.

Some reports suggest that the government’s likely decision is related to the new variant spotted in London and the South East, which may be responsible for the recent increase in cases here.

Unconfirmed as of yet, but looks like current Tier 3 areas in London, South East & the East of England may be moved into a new 'Tier 4' where non-essential retail is closed and Xmas household mixing is banned.
