Huge snow-rescue operation: hundreds of Tourists become stranded in the Peak District

Hundreds of tourists became stranded in the Goyt Valley, in the Peak District near Buxton this afternoon after heavy snow fell. Initially the conditions permitted the vehicles to travel to the area, however after the snow came down many were find unable to navigate the steep gradients with snow on the ground. As a result, many local volunteers and police have had to rescue the residents from the snow. Please always remember to be responsible.
