Officials in Cameron Parish said that around 150 people refused to obey evacuation orders and leave as Category 4 Monster Storm Laura bears down on Louisiana. Up to 20ft of storm surge is expected in Cameron, an area expected to experience a direct hit from Laura.
“It’s a very sad situation,” assistant director of Emergency Preparedness. “We did everything we could to encourage them to leave.”
Official Edwards has activated the state’s National Guard. It is important that you obey mandatory evacuation orders as Emergency Services will be massively limited in evacuated areas.
