A significant change is on the way for next week. Some very wet and windy, in fact stormy weather is possible across many areas next week. The jet stream and Atlantic is expected to break through on full charge. Temperatures are currently colder than average, and will continue so for another few days. Some more cold nights on the way this weekend and the start of next week, in fact next Tuesday could be a particularly cold day after a frost, however the mild air will make it’s presence felt in the south on Wednesday with highs of 10-12C, before spreading to all areas on Thursday.
Maximum temperatures on Thursday, up to 15C in places:
With it comes a very active jet stream. This will mean unsettled conditions, bouts of strong winds, in fact even gales or severe gales are possible especially in the west, and heavy rain. There is a good chance that we’ll see our next named storm of the season, which will go off the name Deidre. Nights will be a lot milder, so on the plus there wont be as much frost or fog, however although temperatures will be higher, it will not feel particularly pleasant. There’s some uncertainty with regards to the exact day to day changes and forecast detail, as it is next week, which is a rather long time away in meteorology, however the general feel will be a) milder, b) windy c) wet, and d) potentially stormy at times – be aware of that.
