There is good agreement between the computer models for a shift to very warm, if not hot weather next week.
Although there is a solid likelihood of at least 2-3 very warm to hot days from Sunday to Tuesday, there is a small, yet notable chance that the heat could persist and grow into the remainder of next week. That risk needs monitoring. We could see temperatures like this (credit: Meteociel) by next Wednesday:
The Short term forecast: For the remainder of this working week, for Thursday and Friday, increased cloud, some breezy, fresh weather and generally rather average temperatures will dominate. It’s not until the later stages of the weekend that temperatures begin to rise, and notably into next week.
By Sunday, maximum temperatures of 28C (82F) are likely for parts of south east England. Elsewhere temperatures will comfortably climb into the low to mid twenties, apart from perhaps Scotland where it will remain cooler.
Next week: There is increasing confidence in the medium range forecast (encompassing next week) for a shift to notably hotter weather. This shift starts on Sunday and will at the bare minimum last through Monday and Tuesday. Increased wind and cloud is likely for more western areas, and as a result temperatures will not be as high.
There is a good chance that temperatures will reach at least 30C (86F) for a couple of days during the start of next week in the south east, with large parts of England and Wales reaching the mid to upper 20s. However, there is uncertainty over whether the heat will last into the remainder of next week.
Uncertainty: Some computer models, such as the ECM (European Model) are keen on maintaining the heat through much of next week. As a result, temperature rises will occur day on day, with the potential for 35C (95F) in the south. However, some computer models restrict the heat to the early part of next week, giving, at least, a couple hot and humid days. Whichever the outcome, some very nice Summer weather is on the way! Enjoy.
