A emergency services response is currently ongoing in the Horwich area of Bolton following an intense downpour this afternoon.

The incident occurred following approximately 2.5 inches of rain that fell within the space of an hour between 5 and 6pm this evening. The storm also brought hail and frequent thunder for a short period.

We have received several reports of flash flooding in Horwich, Lancashire.
